03 / THE ORIGINAL MASTERPIECE

BEFORE IT WAS
A GRAIL,
IT WAS ART.

In 1998, a Japanese magazine contest invited fans to illustrate their own Pokémon cards. The winners received a promo unlike any other: Pikachu, pen in hand, painted by Atsuko Nishida, the artist behind its original design.

Its text names the holder an official illustrator. Only a few exist. Decades later, one graded PSA 10 became the most expensive trading card ever sold at auction.

The auction total includes buyer’s premium; the lot also included a diamond necklace and hand delivery. These are historical facts, not a live price or valuation. This club does not own or offer the card.
